A larger natural pyrite specimen from the Kalahari Manganese Field, 8.8cm across. Where many pyrite pieces read as bright gold, this one has a warmer, deeper character — predominantly reddish-brown and maroon shading through to dark brown, with lighter tan, grey and silvery-white areas catching the light.
Its numerous flat, angular cleavage planes give it a distinctly platy, lamellar structure, and those faces carry a subtle metallic to pearlescent sheen that shifts as the piece is turned. It is raw and natural, with the fractures and formations typical of the locality.
